Born in 1970, Sujit Choudhry is a Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley Law School. Professor Sujit has lectured in over 24 countries. He is the first Indian-American dean at the University of California. Professor Choudhry is one of the greatest minds that graduated with masters in Law from Harvard School of Law. Driven by his determination to study law, Professor Choudhry abandoned his biological studies to pursue a degree in Law at the University of Oxford. Sujit Choudhry’s vast experience in Law has enabled him to create a good rapport for himself as well as his partners. Today, he is internationally recognized for his extensive expertise in the constitutional building process. Professor Sujit Choudhry currently serves as the director of Center for Constitutional Translations. Here, he partners with experts from over 25 countries to address various constitutional and political affairs. He currently co-leads three other global collaborative research projects to address issues related to Security Sector Reforms, Territorial Cleavages, and Constitutional Translation. His research address a variety of issues related to politics and comparative constitutional law. As an author, Sujit Choudhry has published many articles, reports, papers, journals, and books related to politics and comparative constitutional law. He was instrumental in the drafting of the Canadian constitutional law. Some of his books include the International Society of Public Law and Migration of Constitutional Ideas. Sujit Choudhry as a director of The Center of Constitutional Transitions says that the institution has a responsibility of generating as well as mobilizing knowledge that supports constitution-making processes. The institution engages in this initiative by assembling the international network of constitutional order experts into meetings that discuss evidence-based policy methods. The experts then help with making decisions regarding constitutional issues. The Center of Constitutional Transitions works alongside non-governmental organizations and other global multilateral organizations so that they could accomplish their mission. In a meeting on July 19th, 2017 Ukrainian statutory law authorities and Sujit Choudhry, Berkley Law professor and Director of the Center for Constitutional Transitions, collaborated about methods that can be used to improve the recent constitutional difficulties within the semi-presidential system of government. Ukrainian Political strategists and The International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Assistance put the event together for the purpose of ameliorating governmental authorities and methods.

Choudhry articulated that it was an honor for him to congregate with the group, indicating he was happy to help facilitate change and constitutional amendment in the Ukrainian government. He further commented that politics there have been unreliable for the past twenty years due to the level of control in the presidency, frail political parties, the voting system and division of power between the Prime Minister and President. Sujit Choudhry is a Law Professor at UC Berkeley School of Law and held the position of Dean from 2014 through 2016. He was notably recognized as the first East Indian to ever hold the title of Dean at a prestigious law school. He previously served as Professor of Law at New York University School of Law and Scholl Chair at the Faculty of Law. Choudhry received a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Oxford and a Professional Degree from the University of Toronto.
